Southeastern LA wins 5th straight, beats ETAM 59-14

**Lions Extend Winning Streak to Five with Dominant Victory Over East Texas A&M**

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University continued its impressive run Saturday, dominating East Texas A&M with a decisive 59-14 victory at Strawberry Stadium. The win marks the Lions’ fifth consecutive triumph, further solidifying their position as a formidable force this season.

Sophomore quarterback Carson Camp spearheaded the offensive assault, demonstrating poise and precision throughout the game. Camp completed 20 of 28 passes for 247 yards and two crucial touchdown tosses, expertly navigating the Lions’ potent offense. His leadership was evident as Southeastern Louisiana built an early lead and never looked back.

However, the day’s most electrifying performance came from wide receiver and special teams standout Dkhai Joseph. Early in the first quarter, Joseph ignited the home crowd with a breathtaking 63-yard punt return for a touchdown, showcasing his speed and agility. Not content with just a special teams score, Joseph later added an offensive highlight to his resume, snagging a 32-yard touchdown pass from Camp in the second quarter, bringing his total scores for the day to two and underscoring his versatility.

“Dkhai is a game-changer, plain and simple,” said Southeastern Louisiana Head Coach Frank Scelfo after the game. “He brings a spark to our special teams and is a reliable target on offense. Performances like his are contagious and really elevate the entire team.”

Southeastern Louisiana’s offense was firing on all cylinders, amassing over 450 total yards while their defense stifled the East Texas A&M attack, limiting them to just two scores. The Lions’ defense also forced two turnovers, including an early interception that set up another scoring drive.

The Lions jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, fueled by Joseph’s punt return and quick scores from Camp. By halftime, the score stood at 42-7, effectively putting the game out of reach. The second half saw the Lions continue to execute, with their second and third-string players getting valuable game experience while maintaining offensive rhythm and defensive integrity.

This five-game winning streak elevates Southeastern Louisiana’s overall record to 7-2 and 4-1 in the Southland Conference, placing them squarely in contention for a conference title and a potential playoff berth. The team has demonstrated significant improvements on both sides of the ball since a challenging start to the season.

“We’ve really found our rhythm as a team,” Camp commented. “Everyone is buying into the system, and it shows on the field. This streak is a testament to the hard work we put in every day.”

East Texas A&M, now with a 2-7 record, struggled to find answers against the relentless Lions’ attack. Their two touchdowns came late in drives that required significant effort, but they were unable to consistently move the ball or stop Southeastern Louisiana’s offensive onslaught.

Southeastern Louisiana will look to extend their winning streak next Saturday, November 9th, when they travel to face conference rival Nicholls State in a pivotal Southland Conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. CST at Guidry Stadium in Thibodaux.
