Hawkins’ 4 TDs Lead UNT Past Navy, Ends 10-Game Streak

**Apogee Erupts: North Texas Ends 16-Year Drought Against Navy with Dominant 31-17 Victory**

DENTON, Texas – Running back Caleb Hawkins delivered a historic performance, scoring four touchdowns as North Texas stunned Navy 31-17 on Saturday night at Apogee Stadium. The momentous victory not only marked North Texas’s first win over the Midshipmen since 2007 but also emphatically snapped Navy’s imposing 10-game winning streak against the Mean Green.

The home crowd was electric as Hawkins proved unstoppable, practically living in the end zone and carrying the Mean Green offense on his shoulders. The sophomore finished with 105 yards on 22 carries, showcasing a relentless drive that powered North Texas to a significant American Athletic Conference upset.

Hawkins wasted no time making his presence felt, punching in a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, followed by another 1-yard plunge in the second. He burst through for a 10-yard score in the third quarter and then sealed the unforgettable night with one more 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth, cementing his place in program lore. Besides Hawkins’ efforts, North Texas also benefited from a crucial 31-yard field goal from kicker Noah Rauschenberg in the second quarter.

“This is a monumental win for our program, for our university, and for our fans,” said North Texas head coach Seth Littrell after the game. “Our guys bought in, prepared relentlessly, and executed a fantastic game plan. Caleb Hawkins was simply phenomenal, but it was a total team effort – offense, defense, special teams all contributed to breaking that streak. You could feel the energy in Apogee tonight.”

Mean Green quarterback Chandler Rogers managed the game efficiently, completing 15 of 23 passes for 148 yards, crucially avoiding any turnovers against a disciplined Navy defense. The North Texas defense, meanwhile, largely contained Navy’s notoriously difficult triple-option attack, limiting big plays and making key stops.

For Navy, whose 10-game winning streak over UNT stretched back to 2007, Daba Fofana managed a 6-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and Alex Tecza added a 1-yard score in the third. Kicker Max Smith contributed a 24-yard field goal in the fourth, but the Midshipmen struggled to keep pace with the Mean Green’s dominant ground game. Quarterback Blake Horvath ran for 63 yards on 16 carries and threw for 89 yards but couldn’t ignite a consistent offensive rhythm.

“It feels incredible,” said Hawkins, still beaming after the game. “To score four touchdowns is amazing, but the best part is seeing the joy on my teammates’ faces and knowing we finally beat Navy. We worked so hard for this, and the energy from the crowd was just insane. This win means everything to us.”

The victory pushes North Texas’s overall record to 4-4 and 2-2 in the American Athletic Conference, breathing new life into their bowl aspirations. Navy, on the other hand, drops to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play, a setback in their pursuit of an AAC title.

Looking ahead, North Texas will travel to Boca Raton next Saturday, November 4, to face Florida Atlantic. Navy will return home to Annapolis to host Temple the same day, hoping to rebound from the unexpected defeat.
