**Ohio State Claims Top Spot in Latest Coaches Poll as Playoff Picture Intensifies**

**USA Today Sports Coaches Poll – November 5, 2023** – The battle for college football supremacy is heating up, and the latest USA Today Sports Coaches Poll, released Sunday, reflects significant shifts and growing clarity in the national championship picture as teams conclude Week 10 action. The undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes have ascended to No. 1, leading a quartet of unbeaten powerhouses vying for a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Ohio State (9-0) secured the top position following a dominant 35-16 victory over Rutgers on the road, showcasing their defensive prowess and offensive efficiency. They are closely followed by fellow unblemished teams: No. 2 Georgia (9-0), who overcame a spirited Missouri challenge with a 30-21 win; No. 3 Michigan (9-0), fresh off a commanding 49-0 shutout against Purdue; and No. 4 Florida State (9-0), which handled Pittsburgh 24-7. Rounding out the top five is No. 5 Washington (9-0), after their thrilling 52-42 shootout victory over USC.

The Huskies’ impressive win came at the expense of the Trojans, causing No. 10 USC (7-3) to slip six spots from their previous ranking. However, it was Miami and Georgia Tech that endured the most precipitous drops of the week. The Miami Hurricanes (6-3) tumbled 13 spots to No. 25 after a disappointing 20-6 loss to NC State. Georgia Tech (4-5) fell out of the Top 25 entirely, suffering a 38-27 defeat at the hands of Virginia.

While some teams struggled, others celebrated their ascent. The Kansas Jayhawks (6-3) made a dramatic entry into the rankings at No. 23, thanks to a stunning 38-33 upset victory over previously No. 6 ranked Oklahoma. Joining them in the Top 25 for the first time this season is No. 22 Oklahoma State (7-2), which continued its impressive run with a 27-24 road win over West Virginia.

Other teams experiencing upward mobility include No. 19 James Madison (9-0), which maintained its perfect record with a 42-14 triumph over Georgia State, and No. 20 Air Force (8-1), which rebounded from its first loss with a solid 23-3 victory over Colorado State. No. 14 LSU (6-3) moved up after a dominant 52-35 win over Florida, while No. 13 Notre Dame (7-3) climbed following a significant 31-23 victory against Clemson.
