Towson Dominates A&T 62-9, Snapping Losing Streak

**Towson Tigers Decimate North Carolina A&T Aggies 62-9, Snapping Losing Streak**

TOWSON, MD – The Towson Tigers delivered a dominant performance this past Saturday, September 23, at Johnny Unitas® Stadium, crushing North Carolina A&T with a resounding 62-9 victory. The decisive win snapped Towson’s three-game losing streak and significantly boosted their standing in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) with their first conference win of the 2023 season.

The Tigers wasted no time asserting their authority, exploding for an incredible 42 points in the first half alone. Quarterback Andrew Indorf was at the helm of this early offensive surge, connecting for two touchdown passes: a 19-yard strike to Carter Daniel and a 33-yarder to Darian Smith. The special teams unit also contributed, with Nathan Stewart electrifying the crowd with a 64-yard punt return for a touchdown. On the ground, Jesus Gibbs powered in a 1-yard run, while D’Ago Hunter also found the end zone with a 6-yard rush. The defense got in on the scoring frenzy too, as Devin Matthews intercepted an Aggies pass and returned it 44 yards for a pick-six, highlighting a complete team effort that left North Carolina A&T reeling.

By halftime, Towson commanded a 42-6 lead and continued their relentless attack in the second half. Owen Fischer added a 20-yard touchdown run, and Demeioun Robinson broke free for a 32-yard score later in the game, further extending the Tigers’ advantage. By the final whistle, Towson had amassed an impressive 524 total yards of offense, demonstrating perfect balance with 262 passing yards and 262 rushing yards. Their defense was equally formidable, relentlessly pressuring the Aggies and forcing five turnovers: three interceptions and two fumbles.

For North Carolina A&T (1-3 overall, 0-1 CAA), it was a challenging day. Their only points in the first half came from a 41-yard field goal by Quinton Conaway. The Aggies managed a late touchdown in the fourth quarter when Eli Brickhandler punched it in from the 1-yard line with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game, but it was far too little, too late to mount a comeback. The Aggies struggled to generate offense throughout the contest, finishing with only 209 total yards (140 passing, 69 rushing) and that costly five-turnover tally that consistently stifled any momentum.

The massive victory brought Towson’s overall record to 1-3 (1-0 CAA), showcasing a powerful offense and a suffocating defense. The win provides a much-needed morale boost and puts them on the right track within conference play.

Looking ahead, Towson was scheduled to host No. 12 New Hampshire at Johnny Unitas® Stadium on Saturday, September 30. North Carolina A&T, also a member of the Coastal Athletic Association, was set to return home to Greensboro, NC, to host Bryant on the same day.
