UTSA 48-26 Over Tulane; Clinches AAC Title Share

**UTSA Dominates Tulane in New Orleans, Clinches Share of AAC Title with Offensive Explosion**

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Roadrunners delivered a masterful performance Saturday night, November 2nd, at Yulman Stadium, dismantling the Tulane Green Wave 48-26 to not only extend their remarkable conference winning streak but also clinch at least a share of the American Athletic Conference (AAC) regular-season title.

Quarterback Owen McCown spearheaded the offensive onslaught, putting on a clinic that saw him complete an astounding 31 of 33 passes for a career-high 370 yards and four touchdowns. His near-perfect night was a cornerstone of UTSA’s dominant display against a team that many pegged as a top contender in the league.

McCown’s precision passing was capitalized on by multiple targets. Wide receivers David Amador II and Devin McCuin were double threats, each hauling in two touchdown catches that consistently kept the Green Wave defense on its heels. The Roadrunners’ ground game was equally potent, with running back Robert Henry carving through Tulane’s defense for 114 yards on just 14 carries, adding a touchdown of his own. McCown even added to his personal tally with a 1-yard rushing touchdown. In total, UTSA’s offense racked up an impressive 569 total yards, showcasing remarkable balance and efficiency.

The victory elevates UTSA’s overall record to a stellar 8-1 and keeps their AAC record unblemished at a perfect 6-0. This win extends their conference winning streak to an incredible 18 games and officially makes them bowl-eligible, marking another successful chapter in the program’s ascendant history under head coach Jeff Traylor. The Roadrunners, who have rapidly established themselves as a premier program in the AAC, now look poised to contend for the outright conference championship.

“Our guys came out tonight and executed at an incredibly high level against a really good football team,” UTSA Head Coach Jeff Traylor remarked after the game. “Owen was absolutely sensational, and our entire offense fed off that energy. This team plays for each other, and clinching a share of the title is a testament to their hard work and dedication.”

For Tulane, the loss drops their season record to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the AAC, a significant setback in their quest for a conference title. Green Wave quarterback Kai Horton completed 26 of 43 passes for 277 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Makhi Hughes led their rushing attack with 92 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown, while Chris Brazzell II was their leading receiver, catching 11 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown.

However, Tulane’s offensive efforts were hampered by critical struggles on third downs, converting only one of eleven attempts, and leaving points on the field in the red zone, scoring on just three of their five trips inside the 20-yard line. These missed opportunities proved costly against UTSA’s high-powered attack.

“We just didn’t execute when it mattered most tonight,” said Tulane Head Coach Willie Fritz. “UTSA is a tough team, and they took advantage of our mistakes. We have to learn from this, regroup, and prepare for next week. Our goals are still in front of us.”

The Roadrunners, who are likely to see a bump in national rankings after this dominant performance, will aim to secure the outright AAC title next week. They are set to host Florida Atlantic University (FAU) on Saturday, November 9th, at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Meanwhile, Tulane will look to bounce back on the road against North Texas on November 9th, as they try to regain momentum in the crowded AAC standings.
